We've moved...

sorry blogger!

We're on a blog

The lovely people at teezine have written a cracking blog about how awesome we are. And you can read it here. You can also find us in their list of stores, which has a nice list of a bunch of other awesome online tee people.

Thanks very much Dejan!

Ready for the (summer sundae) Weekend(er)

Yes, Summer Sundae Weekender is like just around the corner. We've got some new stock and have been polishing the gazebo and we're totally ready.

Some stuff that's going on is that we have a nice offer on where you can say JUNKSUNDAE to us and you get a buy one get one free kinda deal on all our tees. And we have made this Spotify playlist which features all our favourite people who are playing at Summer Sundae. My personal favourite is Riz MC as his eyes are a bit funny.

Summer Sundae hook up bonanza

Hey, oof, it's been a while... What with summer finally arriving you'd be forgiven for thinking that we've been sunning ourselves on the continent and the like. Well yeah, ok, maybe some of us have, but this junk ball has still been rolling.

We did a pretty amazing photo shoot the other day. It was amazing in no small part to Paul Michael Hughes. And by no small part, I mean in super massive part. You can check out his efforts here and here a little bit.

We went to Truck Festival a couple of weekends back now, and that was as awesome as expected. So now we're taking our wares to the Summer Sundae Weekender. And if anyone fancies hooking up with us for a chat and a beer (we have a fridge), then we've decided if you mention the words JUNKSUNDAE to us and then buy a tee, we'll give another one all the price of absolutely bugger all. How's that for super t-shirt friendship eh?!

Dear Idiots...

... all these tees are shit.

At Summerjunk we're not totally against the slogan tee, but this is just the worst. And everywhere I go, it seems every other person is some brainless chump who's completely oblivious to the fact that this is not fucking funny, it never was, and especially isn't now. These pictures below took me approximately 8 seconds to find, and my broadband has been playing up. This is pretty much on a par with the 'Cunning Stunts' tees you used to see, and I thought things could only go up from there...

The thing is, I know people see others wearing these and think "Yes! That's brilliant". And there's nothing I can do about. So... rant over, I'm off to redesign the 'Frankie Says Relax' tee. No one's done that yet, have they?

Hanging around in toilets, littering, general misdemeanors

It's fine if we can't put beer mats at the bar, we get that and ok, maybe you can't be bothered to do anything on a Sunday. But anyways... We're spending the summer sticking it to the man. Sure it's in a pretty minor way, but damn it, we're showing them who's boss. Or at least who's got a load of flyers and posters and blue tack.

In My Short Sleeve

Hey, we're on a blog! We've got a blog and we're on another one what someone else wrote. That's right damn it. One of our previous subjects of a "hey-we're-a-big-fan-no-you-don't-have-to-ah-go-on-then-you-can-write-about-us-too" blog, inmyshortsleeve.com has done a right lovely write up of us.

It says here, that In My Short Sleeve is a site dedicated to the world of the beloved t-shirt. And they'd be right.

Read all about it....................... here.

Come On Football! (part 2)

There's been something of an influx of pretty decent football shirts over the last few weeks, can't think why... They're all in a fairly similar vain, but to be honest there's nothing better than big black and white prints on a white tee. Especially if it eradicates some of the meat-headed football nonsense over the next couple of weeks. Here's some of our favourites...

Some nice lion stuff going on here. Not exactly unobvious (is that a proper word?) but pretty smart nonetheless.

Some kind of pill with footballs in. Not sure why really but it's a better look than an England shirt covered in kebab and blood and sick.

Gazza! 1990! Crying like a baby. Classic image, although it does make this tee look like a vest.

A bit (well, a lot) like the first one, but just less lion-ey. I've often dreamt of having Geoff Hurst's hand on my shoulder, clutching that trophy. Or is it Bobby Moore? Or the other one...?

And finally... something shit. Can these t-shirts all piss off please? Apart from the Ferris Bueller one, that's genius.

We're On A Podcast

If you're as cool as us, you'll have been listening to the Collings and Herrin podcast for ages now. So we sent them a couple of tees to sponsor the podcast with and obviously they were super excited about this. They were going to wear them in the podcast photo but Andrew forgot his and Richard's was a bit tight (another is winging it's way to him as I type). So they better wear them for the next one.
Have a listen here, but do be aware that I get called a very rude name...

Awesome People

Here's a little Summerjunk thumbs up to the people in the blogging community that we love.

Our favourite blog that we're reading every day at the moment is In My Short Sleeve. It's written by a delightful lady called Kim who manages to find really awesome designs from all over the place and says things like "Highlight for me is clearly the tank-tops. They’re super fresh." which is brilliant.

Hide Your Arms have an amazing selection of tees from around the web. They also have some pretty cool advertising space at the top. They have this other awesome thing called t-shirtblo.gs where you can vote for your favourite tee blogs. We've not been anywhere near the top though. Or the bottom actually...

I Am The Trend have a really detailed site that talks about everything from music to art to clothing and everything else your indie heart could desire. They have some stuff about the new Mumford & Sons range of tees, and we can't wait to get to see them when we're at Summer Sundae.

Come On Football!

This hasn't really got anything to do with football, we're just dead excited about the World Cup tonight.

We've done some right good updating of the website over the last few days. We've managed to get a countdown timer and everything. So to celebrate we are offering our newest design - 'wearejunk' - at a discounted price while the clock is ticking (we might just reset the clock once it's run out, but is it worth the risk?).

And... there's still a few days left to enter our competition and win your very own ltd edition 'unity' tee. Just answer a preposterous question then sit back and wait.

Oh yeah, do you like us? You know, 'like' like? Because if you do then you should like us on facebook too. It's probably the first place that you'll hear about all new designs, competitions, what new trousers we've bought ourselves, that kind of thing. Unless of course you check the website daily for some reason. Oh yeah, follow us on twitter too while you're at it.

Anything else? Well yes. Listen to 'Mars' by Fake Blood. It's incredible.

Topshop makes me feel like death

A while ago I bought this tee from Topshop. Buying high street tees is not a practice that I often partake of unsurprisingly, but I really liked the design. It looks a bit Stars 'n' Stripes-eque and has skulls all over in a Mexican day of the dead style which is massive wins all round in my book. I got to wear it once to a gig which means sweat and washing straight away. And this simple process of buying-wearing-washing apparently means instant tee death now. It lost all its shape and kinda felt like it shrunk, but I reckon this is the cut getting lost somewhere in a world of soap-suds and fabric conditioner. I've worn it a couple of times since when doing some painting so there's gloss up the back, and it has now been relegated to girlfriend bedtime wear.

I never took it back, cuz you know it was like £14 or something and what's the point? Would they have even taken it back? Probably, but I reckon they're banking on people not really being bothered. It's a decent design which is the worst thing. I'd have paid twice as much happily, and then I'd still have it now.

We don't like it when other people do things by halves, and this is why we don't do it ourselves. I'm kinda loathe to write a blog saying how great we are, but then you must be reading this for a reason. So yeah, our stuff is great, and more expensive than Topshop, and you'll be able to wear it more than once.

Everybody's Gone Surfin'

Well sort of, think everyone's bunked off today and gone to the beach... But we're still workin' hard. These tees don't sell themselves you know. And sometimes not at all, cuz sometimes you just win them in a competition.

We've about a week left of the barbecue-survey-let's-pretend-it's-summer-oh-wait-it-actually-is-now competition, where you can win one of our limited edition Unity tee's. And if you don't enter, then you can't win goddamn it!

Go here (ok?) and then find the freestuff bit (still following?) and then answer a question and then win the tee (hat, model, beige wall not included). It's pretty easy really, i'm not sure why that was necessary. It's been a hot day.

And whilst you're doing it, check out our favourite new band Is Tropical and their debut single When O When. Just on Spotify probably unless you've got a spare million quid to buy it off eBay.

We love keeping it independent

'Always keep it independent' was some advice we received last week, and we have no intention of doing anything less. Everything we do, we do because we love it, not because we think it'll sell more or because we want to increase our SEO. I mean, it's not like we don't want to sell more or increase our SEO but we know the people who buy our tees aren't going to be duped by fancy virals or getting some stick thin fashionista wearing our designs in the 'spotted' section of Heat or other lady brain rotting publications.

So we're pretty new to blogging, tweeting, facebooking, er... and any other internet-ing that we can get involved in. And we know this is an amazing way to keep everyone who follows, likes and whatever-else's-us updated. But we were amazed to read about how completely mental the world of blogging is... isn't this supposed to be a fun thing?! Apparently people are just going to stop reading if you don't update like, every day or keep it super regular or whatever. Surely we can just write about what we want, when we want? If not then i'm afraid we've fallen at the first hurdle... This should have gone up yesterday to continue the every-other-day-ness of this particular blog.

We hope that our followers, members & readers will understand. But we will always do what we promised from the start (something about being an independent company what designs t-shirts, I forget now).

Hide Your Arms has a great blog, and it's got a list of people we want to be t-shirt friends with.

http://hideyourarms.com/

We've been listening to a lot of Swell Maps and we like reading about their early ventures of convincing shops in Camden market to sell their tapes. We really like Swell Maps, and we really don't like Elastica.

Back in the USSR

You don't know how lucky you are, boy etc. Moscow is in the USSR right? I hope so but it's hard to follow cuz in this ever changing world in which we live, makes you give in and cry, etc. again.

We just wanted to share a link and a thank you to Bob 'n' Bee, an indie fashion blog based in Moscow. We all know they have a fine taste in hats and vodka, but obviously they've been taking directions from our photo shoot last winter.
Cue yesterday when we all hooked up at a rainy beer festival, expecting someone else to have been in contact with our Russian friends (jeez, i hope my geography is on target), but apparently this is literally the echoes of summer sounding... Nice work everyone (well no one really).

SUMMERJUNK Launch and TRUCK Music Festival

5 things to do / watch / talk about this weekend

1. Wear head to toe leather (apparently). This is something we've been reading about and we approve. But only if you're part of a French electronic duo (helmets optional), not Halle Berry in Catwoman.

2. Discover the music of Ratatat. If you can tell us of a more innovative band of the last 10 years then we're listening. Their debut 'Ratatat' is worth checking just for the uber stylish cover and even the song titles are awesome. Germany To Germany is our favourite.

3. SATC 2. But limit the talking to how you hate it, are being forced to go see it, or the ever increasing length of Sarah Jessica Parkers infamous 'foot face'.

4. You Have Been Watching, Channel 4's best piece of programming since err.. well Newswipe? Charlie Brooker is the most miserable man this side of Salford Lads Club circa 1985, and there's nothing better than wallowing in someone else's glum shoes

5. Come visit us at the Northampton Beer Festival in Delapre Abbey. Plus if you like hunting for treasure check out our webstore, cuz there's a sneaky 25% discount voucher to be found. So what if the weather's supposed to be rubbish? It's better than staying and dying a little bit inside (that may be a bit over the top but whatever).

We love Ryan Jarman

Ok, so the man who proclaimed 'the mainstream is death' (or something like that) might now be married to Kate Nash but we're going to have to get past that, because today we're giving our Summerjunk mini-salute to Ryan Jarman and his blood soaked style.

We've been listening to Ignore The Ignorant for a few months in the office now, and we weren't convinced it was The Cribs best at first (and probably still aren't) but it's slowly wormed it's noise-pop Wakefield way into our heads. Ryan might not be smashing his face up on quite as many microphones as he used to, but he still knows how to wear a good t-shirt and this is what we like to see. Does every band have to dress like self-assuming wankers? Well no, obviously not.

We could procrastinate in detail about his and Ms Nash's kooky celebrity-couple style, but we'd rather share a bloody nice picture and leave it at that.
